wellness : final Nike Training Session
It took me a while to come up with the words to effectively describe my Nike training sessions with Em Hutchins and I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to accurately describe the experience I would only need 3 words.
If you’ve watched my Instagram stories, than you know I’ve been training with Nike ( on a biweekly basis) as part of an exclusive fitness journey for women in media.
The sessions were hosted at On Your Mark with Nike Master Trainer, Emily Hutchins.
We would meet every other Monday at 8am starting on April 22 and the program ran for 5 weeks, June 17th 2019, being the last session.
I will admit, I almost declined the offer when I received the details from the Nike Chicago Team.
For one, I live no where near On Your Mark studios, which meant I would have to be out of the door no later than 6AM to drop off my 4 year old with my sister in law, then drive another 45-50min to make it to the session on time.
But I decided to accept the invitation.
Because earlier this year, I made the decision to do things differently and to take every opportunity that presented itself to me as long as they aligned with God’s will for my life. And I’m 100% sure that the Good Lord wants me to take better care of my body.
It also gave me the opportunity to try the newest product innovation from Nike and hear a bit more about what they are doing in Chicago as well as globally.
Was the timing hard? Yup! - I typically wake up between 430AM-530AM, but rarely leave my house before 8AM.
Did it take some adjusting and planning around my daughters’ and husband's schedules? Yes it did!
Did I believe I was going to die at the hands of Em more than once? Heck yes!
Was the journey worth it? ABSOLUTELY!
I’ve got a renewed passion for working out, I feel good and through this process, I’ve learned what I’ve always known but seem to have forgotten.
I CAN DO ALL THINGS.
It’s simply a matter of priority and hard core discipline.
The last 5 weeks have enabled me to connect with women who encouraged each other to go a little further, to jump a little higher, to squat a little lower.
But most importantly, it has taught me that anything worth having takes effort on my part, this applies to physical fitness and life in general.
In closing, it’s been a wonderful 5 weeks ————— to the Nike Chicago team, thank you for having me, and thank you for reminding me to JUST DO IT!
