life: motives

How are we already in the 8th month of the year?

So what have I been up to? The last few months I kind took a step back to really think through about what I wanted to use this space for.

As you know, I wrote here back in May, that I’ve always wanted to use my platform to bring something of value to others which essentially should be everyone’s goal.

When I switched my handle from milk and honee to Charlotte A Betts, I had an idea as to what I wanted to create but wasn’t entirely sure on how to execute the vision, so I had to step back in order to really think it trough and asked myself these two questions:

  1. What are my motives ( my why )

  2. Who will it serve

Creating something of value has always been important to me, it goes beyond praise. I want to be able to serve others through creative storytelling yours and mine.

Whether it be through how I decorated my office for under $100 or how I created a docuseries about 3 young first generation Africans in Chicago.

It’s all storytelling, and creating content that shares the tapestry of our unique lives with hopes to encourage is my motive and I hope that it serves you well.

So, if you’ve been where I was the last 7 months, knowing that you’ve been given a vision to execute and not necessarily sure on how to bring it to life, simply ask yourself these two questions:

  1. what are your motives

  2. who will it serve

The answer for both should never be yourself!

Happy August fam, and write soon!
